WHAT ABOUT 31-105?!?!?!?!?!

A question I have, which seems to be a taboo topic among mix engineers, is how do all these famous mix engineers that are still doing it (Clearmountain, CLA, Pensado, etc) deal with it? These guys are in their late 60s now. They NEVER talk about hearing loss or tell people to watch out or because of this or that in their interviews. THEY SHOULD. It has to be a big part of mixing as we get older. I get it, they don't want to talk about it for fear that people will lose trust in them if they have to admit how much they have lost hearing wise, but I wish SOMEONE at the higher levels of fame in this area would talk about it. I mean what do they do, hire an assistant in their 20s to check the high end of mixes for them? Meters can't tell you everything....

I SO wish people would have asked him more about the Shania records he did with Mutt. IMO they are far more impressive than the Leppard stuff, production wise. Which is a TALL order. If you don’t believe me, go listen to the “Up!” Album RED version on a good pair of speakers. Mind blowing.

I just want to comment on this video for anyone who tried to replicate this issue and found that their low end actually got quieter with BX_SUBSYNTH in parallel.... This is because "Tight Punch" is a Resonant Pass Filter - this will cause phasing issues with your low end whenever used in parallel. It is highly advised to avoid using this the way Dave shows here. It seems to only affect the ultra low subs for me, but it definitely made my lowest sub notes significantly quieter when used in parallel.
